A website with the name of Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte now redirects to Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump’s campaign website.
According to The Guardian’s Ben Jacobs:
The website, www.kellyayotte.com is registered privately via an LLC called Domains By Proxy which allows internet users to purchase URLs without revealing their names.
The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment on whether they had knowledge of the URL. There is no suggestion that the campaign was involved in the redirections, which also affect a URL ostensibly linking internet users to the New Hampshire Republican party www.nhgop.com.
It was also reported earlier this week that a website with Jeb Bush’s name redirects users to Trump’s campaign website.
Ayotte has been critical of Trump’s call to temporarily ban Muslims from entering into the United States.
“I do not believe that there should be a religious test in terms of how we decide who’s coming to our country,” Ayotte told reporters this week. “We’ve not had a religious test for this and that certainly seems inconsistent with the First Amendment to me.”
According to CNN, Ayotte, who faces a tough re-election, has already expressed concern about Trump ruining her chances in New Hampshire.
Ayotte isn’t planning to endorse in the GOP primary. But allies say her team is making its concerns about Trump clear to friends in the state who are supporting the businessman, hoping an “all politics is local” mindset might kick in and get some to reconsider.
