Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush picks up the endorsement of another longtime Republican establishment moderate, with the announcement of Sen. Thad Cochran’s support. The Mississippi Republican is currently serving his seventh term in the Senate.

“Jeb Bush is the proven leader the American people need as we face grave threats from abroad and continued economic challenges at home. Jeb is a serious leader with executive experience and a forward-looking vision,” said Cochran in a statement to CNN announcing his endorsement.

Bush has earned the support of several moderate, establishment congressional Republican leaders including former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and former Senator Bob Dole. Sen. Orrin Hatch, who is also currently in his seventh term, also endorsed Bush.

Cochran angered conservatives in his close re-election campaign after reaching out to Democrats to help him survive a challenge from more conservative challenger Chris McDaniel.
