Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said that his proposal to shut down any Muslim immigration into the US wouldn’t apply to Muslims in the US military, who would “come home” and that any Muslims in the US would stay in an interview broadcast on Monday’s “On the Record” on the Fox News Channel.
Trump stated that he’s “absolutely” in favor of completely shutting down Muslims from coming into the US and criticized President Obama’s speech the night before as “one of the most ridiculous speeches I’ve ever seen.”
He was then asked about Muslim members of the US military who are overseas, Trump responded, “They’ll come home and we have to be vigilant and we have take care of the Muslims that are living here, but we have to be vigilant. We had two of them living here, and they had guns, and everybody that — they had tremendous, they had bombs. They had ammunition. everybody knew that something bad was going to happen, and for the sake of political correctness, or anything you want to call it, they refused — people that knew what was going on refused to report these people, and many people died. So, we can’t allow this to happen.”
Trump re-iterated that Muslims serving in the US military abroad “would come home” and this rule wouldn’t apply to them, and that “anybody here stays, but we have very vigilant.”
