Florida Senator and Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio said that he would support suspending visas to Muslim countries with active jihadist populations, but fellow GOP presidential candidate Kentucky Senator Rand Paul’s amendment that dealt with this subject went too far on Monday’s “Sean Hannity Show.”
Rubio was asked Paul’s amendment to suspend visas “to more than 30 Muslim countries with active jihadist populations.” Rubio said that the amendment did more than that, and that it “basically suspended all visa waiver travel, from anywhere in the world, and I think that’s a step too far. I mean, you’re talking about somebody’s coming from Germany to go to vacation at Disney World, they literally would not have been able to come, because it put a 30-day suspension on all visa waiver travel from everywhere, from every country. So, it didn’t need to go that far. But, the elements of it that would have limited to those countries, I think would have had a lot of support, including mine.”
