Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) argued, “oo many members of this administration, probably the president himself” believe” we have brought Islamic terror attacks on ourselves” in an interview with Milwaukee’s WTMJ’s Charlie Sykes on Monday.

Johnson pointed to Secretary of State John Kerry’s statement about the “rationale” for the Charlie Hebdo attacks before stating, “that really is, I think, the attitude of too many members of this administration, probably the president himself, that we have brought Islamic terror attacks on ourselves, from our actions, because of our free[dom], because of our liberty, because of the way we conduct ourselves. That is wrong thinking and I think it’s why you get a lecture on political correctness, in a speech when America was really looking for, hey, what’s the strategy for defeating this evil?”

Earlier, Johnson said that the AUMF the president is seeking “actually restricts from his authority from what he currently is claiming.” He added that President Obama is “not particularly serious” about ISIS, and “Of course his goal is, and this was stated 15 months ago, was degrade and ultimately defeat ISIS. I agree with that goal. But, then, in the same speech… he immediately took off the table the very actions that is going to — the assets that are going to be needed to defeat ISIS, and that will be like, real troops.”
