The same Baptist pastor from Ohio who led a group of faith leaders pressuring then-Speaker of the House Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) to investigate and defund Planned Parenthood is now throwing his support behind J.D. Winteregg, who is vying for Boehner’s congressional seat in Ohio’s 8th district.
Pastor Dale Christian–who previously spoke to Breitbart News exclusively about his attempt to reach out, along with more than 70 other leaders from Ohio, to Boehner–endorsed Winteregg (pictured), explaining, “As a pastor, I have tended to be a bit apprehensive to wade into politics. However, I have come to realize that it is our representative form of government through which the issues are addressed.”
“J.D. came to me before we played one of our church softball games during the summer of 2013 and said that be believed something needed to be done regarding the direction of our nation,” Christian stated.
He added that politicians in Washington never make changes to help issues facing the country and that “you begin to question whether your vote really counts.”
“I believe J.D. Witeregg would be a man of commitment and courage,” he stated, saying Winteregg told him that he was going to run against John Boehner even before others were considering doing so.
“He will faithfully represent voters of the 8th district of Ohio,” endorsed Christian.
Winteregg responded to Christian’s support, saying, “I’m honored to have earned Pastor Christian’s endorsement. He’s a man of integrity, and it’s humbling to have him identify me as the leader he believes will best represent our district’s core values.”
Christian has been the pastor for the First Baptist Church in Troy, Ohio for 16 years and has been a pastor for a total of 36 years.
