During the December 6 airing of Face the Nation, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump pointing to the slaughter of unarmed people in California, Paris, and Oregon, and said we need a situation where terrorists have to deal with the knowledge that armed citizens will shoot back.
Trump said:
[Terrorists] are killing people. Whether it’s what we just saw in California or in Paris, they are killing people–innocent people–people without guns. Look at Paris, no guns, nothing. And look at California, no guns. I can tell you one thing. I can tell you one thing, if I’m in there and have a gun we’re going down shooting, we’re going to knock them out, one way or another.
He went to talk about how “bad guys” of every stripe are “going into these gun free areas” and killing people who are “sitting ducks.” He said giving terrorists and other “bad guys” such an upper hand is a “disgrace.”
Face the Nation host John Dickerson asked, “Should the good guys get guns? Should people carry?” Trump responded, “If they want to they should be able to, because it’s going to be a lot safer.”
On September 18 Breitbart News reported on a policy paper in which Trump contended, “concealed carry…is a right, not a privilege.”
