A State Department subordinate to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said just weeks after the Benghazi attack that she “fully understands” if her boss does not want to put things down on email record.
“I will write at greater length this weekend on substance, which is what matters here,”Anne-Marie Slaughter wrote in a personal note to Clinton on October 19, 2012.
“But thanks very much for reacting so fast and for trying to call; that meant a great deal. And take a long walk in the beautiful autumn woods this weekend! No need to respond; I fully understand if you do not want to put anything in email.”
Slaughter’s message, released Monday in a State Department email dump, makes clear that Clinton and her subordinates were cautious about leaving a paper trail in the immediate aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2012 Benghazi attack.
That attack sparked congressional inquiries and an apparent State Department cover-up.
As Breitbart News has extensively reported, Clinton used a personal email server, which shared a non-secure network with the Clinton Foundation and Clinton’s daughter Chelsea, to conduct State Department business, receiving unofficial Libya intelligence from her own fly-by-night sources led by her political adviser Sidney Blumenthal.
