Annapolis resident Daniel Hodges has filed a lawsuit claiming that police officers unlawfully stopped him and searched his vehicle several times because he was a white man in a predominantly African-American and Latino neighborhood.

Hodges’ lawyer said the officers stopped his client on suspicion that he was in those black and Latino neighborhoods to purchase drugs.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, says Hodges was stopped three times in 11 months and asked about drugs during two of the three stops.

Hodges is suing for $150,000 in damages.

Annapolis police officials have yet to respond to Hodges’ lawsuit.
