GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina joined Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM with guest host Matthew Boyle where she said the United States must “do whatever is necessary to ensure that we do not have terrorists coming into this nation.”
Boyle asked Fiorina if she believed Congress should defund President Obama’s Syrian refugee resettlement program in December when the debate and vote is scheduled for the spending bill.
“We have to do whatever is necessary to ensure that we do not have terrorists coming into this nation. Period,” Fiorina responded. “It’s clear that ISIS has a strategy to attack our homeland.”
Fiorina, who chaired the advisory board of the Central Intelligence Agency for many years, said it’s known ISIS had planned to attack Europe and wants to build an attack capability in the U.S., and since they have succeeded in Europe, “We must do whatever is necessary to ensure that we do not have terrorists coming into” this country for that reason.
Boyle asked Fiorina about the eight Syrians who were caught attempting to cross the southern border, a story Breitbart News’s Brandon Darby broke earlier this week.
She said that even before announcing her presidential campaign that she stressed the border must be secured because of the threat of terrorism, saying the U.S. must secure the borders for several reasons “that go way beyond illegal immigration and terrorism is one of them.”
“One of the things we shoud be doing as the leader in the world is not only leading humanitarian relief efforts to help these refugees where they are,” but also crack down on human trafficking because that’s how many of these people are moved around, Fiorina explained.
Fiorina also shared her plan to take on ISIS if she were elected president of the United States.
“First, we have to deny them territory,” Fiorina explained, saying it’s important to do that because it is territory that gives ISIS their caliphate and that is what gives them power and legitimacy.
“We must deny them territory – that means we have to take terrority back,” explaining that just containing ISIS, as Obama has attempted to do, won’t defeat them.
“We have to have a more effective bombing campaign,” she added. “We need more special forces on the ground to help us direct that bombing campaign.”
Fiorina said many of America’s allies (Jordanians, Kuwaitis, Saudis, Kurds) that are on the ground fighting ISIS have requested weapons, intelligence, and various other materials, and that she would supply them the aid requested if she were president of the United States.
“They are asking us for very specific support… I will provide all of that,” she vowed.
“Even as we keep our eye on ISIS and defeat them… we must also acknowledge that Iran and Russia are our most serious security threat,” Fiorina added. “They are a very grave threat.”
Switching from ISIS to news that Democrat frontrunner Hillary Clinton said she will protect the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) program that is part of President Obama’s executive amnesty order but was ruled unconstitutional and is now being appealed to the Supreme Court, Fiorina vowed, “I’d roll it back. It’s unlawful.”
“It’s unconstitutional,” she added.
Fiorina said Obama’s numerous regulatory overreaches have been damaging to the country, referencing regulations from agencies like the EPA among others.
“They all need to be ruled back. Of course I will, starting with that one,” Fiorina said of Obama’s executive order granting amnesty.
