Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) says that “we’ve got to stop” the Syrian refugee program, but adds that the bill being voted on in the House to halt the program is “not going anywhere.”
Babin joined Stephen K. Bannon on Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Daily. The lawmaker says that he, “heard from the horse’s mouth the other day, FBI director James Comey, say that he could not properly screen and vet these refugees. So we’ve got to stop this program”
Babin discussed the House Republican bill that is aimed at preventing Syrian and Iraqi refugees from coming into the U.S. The bill is set to be voted on Thursday, but Babin says the bill won’t get past the House.
“What they are going to bring up over the holiday season is, ‘Mary and Joseph were refugees. Mary and Joseph, when they went into Egypt, were refugees,’” Breitbart News Daily host Steve Bannon said.
“Well, Steve, I would just say this,” Babin responded. “Mary and Jesus didn’t have suicide bomb vests strapped on them, and these folks do. You can see it in technicolor in Paris.”
“No matter what we pass today, it’s not going anywhere because we’ve got the Democrats against us, we’ve got the president who obviously does not understand the enemy and is already promised to veto.” He added that, “the real fight will be on the upcoming spending bill.”
Babin also talked about the letter he sent to House leadership asking them to halt funding for the refugee resettlement program.
“We have got to do something” said Babin. “The American people are apprehensive in light of what’s going on around the world, especially in France. We’ve got to defund this refugee program and we need to pull out all stops on doing this. So that is why I’m continuing to circulate this letter.”
Babin talked about immigration in general saying that, “We have got to stop people from coming into the United States period. I don’t know what its going to take for this president to wake up.”
“I’m real apprehensive that’s something is going to happen here. We’ve had wide open borders for decades now, we’ve got a refugee program that this president not only has doubled, but tripled.”
