Ed Martin, the former chairman of the Missouri Republican Party and now president of Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, is blasting what he calls the GOP’s “Surrender Congress” for its failure to resist President Obama’s far left agenda, particularly his current plans to continue the flow of unvetted Syrian refugees to the United States.
Martin tells Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 Breitbart News Daily it is time to throw the GOP “Surrender Congress of 2015″ out. He also criticized the recent Congressional failure to push back against the Obama administration’s plan to bring 10,000 Muslim Syrian refugees into the United States over the next year.
“We want a Congress that will stand up to Obama,” Martin began.
“On the Syrian question, there are at least two aspects of Article I [of the Constitution]; one is that …the House is supposed to control the budget, the other is that Article I says they [Congress] shall control the naturalization including refugees. So the House needs to stand up,” Martin said.
“Two weeks ago it was because of the Boehner-Obama secret deal that all the Republicans played a game with the pass, and I realized that they surrendered. These men and women in the House, all of them, have surrendered to Obama. They’re just trying to play out the string because they want to keep their jobs,” the former Missouri GOP chairman added.
“We’re going to ask the country [to] throw the bums out! All of them,” Martin told Bannon.
“We’re losing because of the ‘Surrender Congress,’” Martin added before asking conservatives listening to the program, “will you consider running for Congress?”
When asked by Bannon whether the upcoming appropriations bill battle is “a hill to die on,” Martin had a quick response.
“It has to be. I have no confidence there is any leadership in the House that will die on the hill,” he told Bannon.
“We were told by Speaker Ryan we’re going to have one more study committee. Well, no more studying. I don’t want to study Planned Parenthood, I don’t want to study Syrian terrorists… no more studying,” Martin added.
“I’ve got enough facts in front of me, I can make a decision,” Bannon said.
“That’s right. December 11 now [the date Congress will be considering the appropriations bill] is a kind of D-Day for America, whether we’re going to turn or not. What I tell people is after the 11th, look at your calendar. If the filing date hasn’t passed, pick a candidate, run for Congress, run for Senate, run for something and make the argument that the ‘Surrender Congress of 2015’ has to be thrown out and fired,” Martin recommended.
Martin also said the Eagle Forum is “starting a website today called whiteflagcongress.com where you can learn about the effort to stop the ‘Surrender Congress of 2015.’ ”
Martin had strong words of praise for the leadership role Breitbart News is now playing in the media.
“The world is going crazy, and when I go to Breitbart.com I see the truth and fighting through the nonsense, and that’s what we’ve got to do,” Martin told Bannon. He also penned an article calling out the GOP’s “Surrender Congress” on a host of matters for Breitbart’s Big Government site.
