Rep. John Fleming (R-AL) joined Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM with host Stephen K. Bannon and said that he thinks immigration will split the Republican Party.
“I really think it’s going to be huge. I think it’s going to be a central issue that unfortunately, will divide Republicans,” Fleming said of immigration, which has become a top issue during the 2016 presidential election.
Fleming referenced declining birthrates in Sweden and mentioned how immigrants are replacing them, but that they have high unemployment rates, yet the immigrants come for the lavish welfare and entitlement programs.
“The establishment Republican Party […] somehow believes…that it’s going to improve our economy,” he said of being lax on immigration.
He also suggested that some believe that Republicans will convert immigrants to the Republican Party, but that there’s no evidence that this would or could happen.
Fleming said that if those people study the issue, “they’ll get right with the issue.”
“In terms of Republicans, we have got to get to our cohorts in the Republican Party to get them to understand if we are going to get this country to its traditional values…we’re going to have to control our borders and manage this huge change in our culture that’s occurring,” Fleming added.
