GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump tells Breitbart News exclusively that his enormous success in business is the reason he’s polling more than four times better than all his opponents when it comes to GOP voters’ views on who can best handle the economy.
Trump will be center stage at the upcoming Fox Business Network GOP presidential primary debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Tuesday evening. It’s the fourth GOP primary debate, and there are fewer candidates on stage. Trump’s staying power at the top of the field has proven too much for many other candidates to handle.
“Because I’ve hired tens of thousands of people over the years, and because I’ve had a tremendously successful company,” Trump said when asked to react to a recent Fox News Poll from last week showing him way ahead of the entire rest of the field on the economy.
My recent filing shows a huge company—a very huge company—with very little debt and tremendous cash flow when I filed down at the FEC. I have a tremendous company with very little debt and tremendous cash flow and some of the greatest real estate assets in the world. I think people see this. I think if I didn’t see that it would be different.
The poll of 476 likely GOP primary voters, conducted Nov. 1 to Nov. 3 by Fox News, found that 42 percent of GOP voters think Trump is “most qualified to handle the economy.”
The next best candidate, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), doesn’t even come close—finishing with just 10 percent. Dr. Ben Carson gets 9 percent, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) gets 7 percent, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is tied with Ohio Gov. John Kasich for 5 percent apiece. Everyone else is way lower than that.
That means add Bush, Rubio and Kasich—the three establishment candidates—together, and Trump is more than double their combined total.
“That’s the way it’s supposed to be,” Trump told Breitbart News when asked about how he’s better than more than double Bush, Rubio, and Kasich combined. “I built a great company. I built an incredible company. I don’t even get enough credit for the company I built, to be honest. The company is better than anybody even understands.”
Trump added that his company will make more than $605 million next year—an impressive profit level for a private company.
“I have a company that next year is going to make $605 million in profit. And it’s private. It’s a private company,” Trump said.
When asked about how whether managing the country or building his company would be easier, Trump told Breitbart News that running America would likely be easier than building his real estate empire.
“In many ways, [managing] the country may be easier than building a business,” Trump said.
People know that and people understand that and they see that. For instance, I’m going to Illinois today and people are going to have like 16,000 to 18,000 people—it could be even more than that. They only knew about it a few days ago. We have 17,000 people already confirmed and we let them know about it a few days ago.
The Fox News poll shows Trump is still atop the GOP field generally, as well, with 26 percent of support compared to Carson’s 23 percent. Cruz and Rubio tied for 11 percent, and Bush, Kasich, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee tied for 4 percent.
