Carson: ‘I Would Much Rather Lose an Election Than to Lie’

Monday on Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson defended himself in the wake media scrutiny of his past, including what some alleged to have been discrepancies about his past.

Carson insisted to host Bill O’Reilly that he had been forthright and would not lie for the sake of electoral success.

“I would much rather lose an election than to lie,” Carson said.

Carson went on to attack the media, which he insisted they operating under a double standard when it comes to investigating his past.

“I’ve not been impressed by the ability of the press to investigate when they really don’t want to find something.”

He went on to suggest the scrutiny was coming out of fear.

“If they weren’t afraid, they wouldn’t be doing that,” he added. “And they can’t find any, and they’re getting really frustrated. In a way, I kind of feel sorry for them. But at some point, they might actually come to the realization that I’m not their enemy.”
