Thursday’s on ABC’s “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg took Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson to task for his recent comments on the Egyptian pyramids and immigration.
Goldberg said, “He stood by previous comments that he made about who actually built the pyramids of Egypt. He claimed they weren’t built by the Egyptians as tombs for the Pharaohs but by the biblical figure Joseph, who built it to store grain with help from God.”
Goldberg continued, “I know the slaves of Egypt built that bad boy. So if you’re going to be president, man, you got to at least do the history. You got to get the history right.”
Raven-Symoné added, “That’s funny you say that, because he also had an interview with the Miami Herald and he didn’t know what dry foot wet foot is. I don’t know that either but also I’m not running for president and I had to read about it… It’s a Cuban adjustment act which allows Cubans who arrive in the U.S. to apply for legal residency after 366 days, and he’s like I don’t really know anything about that. I have to get all my facts before I tell you how I feel about it. But you have all the facts for Egypt. It’s a tomb.”
Michelle Collins chimed in saying, “When I heard about the thing with the pyramids I was wondering who is his science advisor, Nicolas Cage? Dan Brown? Who is helping this man come up with his facts? I’ve never been more fascinated by him.”
Goldberg said “If you have a huge discussion going on about immigration, you should actually know this, you should have some idea, because it does beg the question of why is one group allowed in, and other groups, like the Haitians, they don’t care how they get in, they send them back or they detain them. He has to be a little faster on the ball I think.”
She continued, “Listen, people want somebody who’s not going to be shown up by the smallest country in the world saying, what do you mean you don’t know what we do? They don’t want to see that. The minute you say, listen, I haven’t really studied up on this and it’s one of the biggest issues that is facing the country, it’s a little tricky for him. But he’ll get up and everybody goes up, they go down, they go up, they go down. What are you going to do? This is the nature of politics, but it ain’t over until somebody sings.”
