Comedian Aziz Ansari mocked Republican Presidential candidate Gov. Bobby Jindal during a skit on Wednesday’s “The Tonight Show,” depicting the former Rhodes Scholar and Ivy League honors graduate as bumbling and anti-science.
The comedian, an ardent liberal, used his spot with host Jimmy Fallon to satirize the Republican Party, while playing the role of the Louisiana Governor, who is also an Indian-American.
When Fallon asked Ansari’s Jindal about his views on global warming, he responded: “I’m the only candidate that doesn’t believe in any science, period.”
“There’s a lot of people running for president that buy into these science myths, like photosynthesis. Are you serious?” Ansari as Jindal said.
Fallon began the skit by citing a new poll which shows Dr. Ben Carson as the GOP’s new frontrunner. Carson is polling at 29%, followed by Donald Trump, and then Ted Cruz.
“There are a whopping nine GOP candidates polling at 2% or lower,” said Fallon. “Here to talk about his chances as one of those nine candidates, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.”
Ansari, playing the role of Jindal, thanked Fallon for inviting him on the show, saying he’s used to appearing on C-Span “at like 2 a.m., right before they start airing those NutriBullet infomercials, so this is crazy!”
When Fallon asked why he is still in the race despite such low poll numbers, Ansari’s Jindal was quick to point out he is now polling at two percent, saying: “That’s a 100 percent increase… It’s a game changer.”
Ansari also took aim at Trump.
“Donald Trump likes to pretend that he’s a great businessman, but did you know he spent a million dollars on those stupid “Make America Great Again” hats?” Jindal asked. “That’s like twice what I spent on my whole campaign combined.”
