Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” former speech writer for President Ronald Reagan and weekly columnist for The Wall Street Journal Peggy Noonan criticized the presidential campaign effort of Jeb Bush by saying he has “made a bad impression for six months.”
Noonan said, “This year is nothing if not surprising in every way on both sides. So we’ll see how it goes. I think you have to view this year with an openness to being shocked. That having been said, I do not, my read on Jeb is that he made a bad impression for six months, and now he is trying to turn it around. That’s hard to do. You know one of the ways he tries to turn it around I think is to describe what kind of candidate he will be. Do you know what I mean? I will be joyous. I will be heart-felt. I will be Reagan-esque. I will share my vision. Don’t describe what you’re going to do. Do it. He has had a little trouble doing that. Now he is in a spat with Mr. Trump. eventually everybody winds up in a, you know, fight with Mr. Trump. So Mr. Trump is will be in a fight with Mr. Trump. but, we’ll see how it goes. But I think this year has shaped up to this remarkable thing where it is the outsiders versus insiders, and that was unexpected.”
