Corey Lewandowski, campaign manager for billionaire Donald Trump, tells Breitbart News Daily Americans are “sick of being lied to” by people in Washington, D.C.
“People are unhappy with the direction of the country—we saw that with the rise of the Tea Party, we saw that when we had thousands of people at the statehouse in Concord, New Hampshire, protesting the government with more taxes and more spending,” Lewandowski told host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon on SiriusXM Patriot Channel 125.
We see that at the national level now. When Mr. Trump goes out somewhere across the country, there are tens of thousands of people who show up because they’re fed up. They’re sick of being lied to by politicians who are all talk no action. Mr. Trump is actually going to accomplish something and that’s why Mr. Trump’s campaign has caught on like wildfire across the country and we see these huge crowds that come out.
Lewandowski went on to say that the people in Washington, D.C.—lobbyists and special interests—despise Trump because they can’t buy him.
“The inside the beltway guys have no control over Donald Trump,” Lewandowski said.
And I mean that in a good way. Most of those people are bought and paid for by special interests, by lobbyists, by major donors. Since Mr. Trump is funding his campaign on his own—and isn’t taking donor money—he isn’t beholden to those people and can be accountable to those people who want special interests out of the government. He’s going to do what’s right for the country and I think that’s what the American people actually want.
Lewandowski then explained Trump’s deal-making ability—and how he’s been able to show it off through the debate negotiations process after the disaster in Boulder, Colorado, at the CNBC debate. Lewandowski’s Trump campaign not only cut the Republican National Committee (RNC) out of the process, they’ve rejected the efforts by the GOP establishment plant lawyer Ben Ginsberg to take control of the process.
“It’s very simple—it’s time to make sure again, like Mr. Trump would do for our country, that we put our best interests first and stop kowtowing to everybody else,” Lewandowski said.
“Mr. Trump is the greatest negotiator in this field by far,” he added.
When CNBC talked about having a three-hour debate, which is simply a moneymaking operation—they charge $250,000 per commercial for a 30-second slot, and they wanted more commercials not because it was the right thing for the country but because of the moneymaking operation. Mr. Trump and Mr. [Ben] Carson got together and said “absolutely not, we’ll only participate if it’s a two-hour debate. We want opening statements and we want closing statements.” So with that, CNBC said “okay, we will negotiate that” when all the other campaigns said “you know what, we’re willing to do whatever.”
Lewandowski noted that this proves how Trump would negotiate if elected president. “Anything can be negotiated if you have a strong leader,” he said. “That’s what we’ll continue to do with the debates moving forward, to make sure the criteria is outlined and understood by all the candidates and all the campaigns and everyone agrees to it before walking onto that stage.”
