On November 1, an alleged robber who was shot by a convenience store clerk ran outside and flagged down a police officer in a desperate bid for medical help.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in Newport News, Virginia.
According to ABC 13, the suspect entered the Quick Save convenience store on Chestnut Avenue at about 8:30. He had been in the store earlier and allegedly already robbed it once. The second time he entered, the clerk was ready for him and opened fire.
Shortly thereafter, a police officer “on routine patrol” said he was flagged down “by a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body” with a gun in his hand. “Soon after that there was a call from a clerk at the Quick Save reporting an attempted robbery.” The officer ascertained that the gunshot victim was the robbery suspect.
The Quick Save convenience store has been in the same family for 27 years. The cousin of the clerk who shot the suspect said, “When you’re trying to get something that’s not yours, that’s what you’re going to get.”
The robbery suspect “is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.”
