An Indiana man, who is already facing a series of charges of molesting a child, allegedly tried to hire a hitman to kill his victim and his victim’s mother, according to court documents.
David W. Wilkinson, 44, was arrested in May and charged with molesting a girl for a year. The Anderson, Indiana, man was charged with four counts of child molestation and an additional four felony charges. He is to appear in court on the molestation charges on December 14.
But now, court documents say that Wilkinson also sought a way out of his crime by committing an even greater crime—murder.
The accused molester was arrested yet again on charges that he tried to hire a hitman to kill is victims, police say. He now faces two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, a level 2 felony for the murder attempt.
Wilkinson was caught by police in a month-long sting trying to hire an undercover police officer to kill the child and the child’s mother. Wilkinson allegedly offered $40,000 to the officer to commit the murders.
Police initiated the sting after learning that Wilkinson had offered another person $40,000 to kill the woman and child.
Wilkinson is in the Miami County Jail with a bond set at $80,000 for the conspiracy to murder charges, in addition to his earlier $300,000 bond from the original child molestation charges.
