GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump criticized fellow contender Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) in a recent interview with Bloomberg, calling Rubio a “lightweight” and saying he’s “overrated.”
“I think he’s highly overrated. I think he’s an overrated person. I don’t think he’s going to make it,” Donald Trump stated. “I mean, he’s nowhere in the polls. I don’t think, personally, he’s going to make it,” Trump added, referencing Rubio’s failed immigration bill in 2013.
Following the third GOP primary debate hosted by CNBC last week, Rubio’s support in New Hampshire has increased dramatically, according to The Hill.
“I think he’s a lightweight. I hope I’m wrong about that,” Trump said of Rubio.
The Hill reported that Donald Trump referenced an MSNBC commentator who said Trump was “fawning” over Rubio.
“I don’t know. I think I’m better looking than he is,” Trump stated, referring to Rubio’s appearance, but added, “He’s probably a nice person.”
