Jeb Bush: If You Are Elected to Serve ‘You Should Show Up and Vote’

US-VOTE-REPUBLICANS-DEBATE

DES MOINES, Iowa — GOP presidential candidate former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush touted his record as a pro-life governor after being critical of Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) absent voting record, but when questioned about Rubio’s missed Planned Parenthood vote, Bush wouldn’t throw the punch, responding, “Ask him about it.”

Bush wouldn’t comment on Rubio’s missed vote to defund Planned Parenthood, but he did take a swing at him over his no-show voting record in the U.S. Senate during the third GOP primary debate and again – without calling Rubio out by name – while speaking to voters at an Iowa GOP event Saturday.

“If you’re elected to serve… you should show up and vote,” Bush said to the voters, adding that Iowa’s Sen. Chuck Grassley has been a good representative.

Bush’s comment comes after he attacked Rubio during the GOP debate hosted by CNBC in Boulder, Colorado.

“Marco, when you signed up for this, this was a six-year term and you should be showing up to work,” Bush stated. “What is this, like a French work week?”

He jabbed, “Just resign and let someone else take the job.”

While addressing Iowa voters on Saturday, Bush spoke about his record as Governor of Florida on pro-life issues:

Florida was the first state to have a Choose Life license plate, to fund adoption programs in the country. Now $20 million have gone to this. In Florida, we eliminated partial birth abortion, a horrific procedure that is inhumane. In Florida, we triple digit increased the number of kids getting out of our foster care because we tore down the barriers for adoption so these children could get to loving homes. In Florida, we were the only state to provide government money to crisis pregnancy centers, so that women can have a loving choice when confronted with this difficult decision. And in Florida, I defunded Planned Parenthood.

However, Bush refused to criticize Rubio on missing his vote to defund Planned Parenthood in the U.S. Senate when Breitbart News asked, “What about Rubio missing his Planned Parenthood vote?”

“Ask him about it,” Jeb responded.
