Rand: ‘A Lot of the Moderators’ Were ‘Partisans’ Playing ‘Gotcha Game,’ Media Has Been ‘Superficial’

Republican presidential candidate Kentucky Senator Rand Paul argued that “a lot of the moderators, particularly last night, decided they were going to be partisans” and criticized the media in general for being “superficial” in its coverage of the presidential race in an interview with Fox News Radio’s John Gibson on Thursday.

Rand said, “I think a lot of the moderators, particularly last night, decided they were going to be partisans, and they were going to play sort of a partisan gotcha game. There were a lot of questions that could have been asked about monetary policy, about the Federal Reserve that really I think it would have perhaps elicited whether people knew anything about our monetary system or not. And then also which direction the candidates wanted to take us with the economy, but it ended up being very superficial. And it’s been one of my complaints about all of the media really in covering this is that everybody likes to do horse race, and so the horse race is what are your numbers in the latest polls? And so we elevate the polls to such a height that we forget about the substance of who do we think might be the person to lead the country?”
