The newly elected Speaker Paul Ryan is not likely to participate in a golf outing with President Obama any time soon.

During the White House press briefing, Press Secretary Josh Earnest was asked by reporters if the men would be hitting the links.

“I don’t know if this Speaker of the House plays golf or not, but I’m sure if he’s interested that’s something that could be arranged,” Earnest replied.

When reached for comment by Breitbart News, Ryan’s spokesman Brendan Buck confirmed that the Speaker does not golf.

“Hunting is his recreation of choice,” Buck added.

Former Speaker John Boehner famously golfed with President Obama in June 2011, leading critics to excoriate the Speaker for palling around with the president when the country was suffering. Hank Williams Jr. controversially compared the event to “Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu.”

Afterwards, Boehner admitted that he would probably never golf again with Obama.

“The President has suggested, ‘Hey, do you think it is too much trouble to play golf again?’ and I have to look at him and say, ‘Yes, because everybody gets bent out of shape worried about what we are up to, when all we are really want to do is just play golf,’” he explained during an interview on the Golf Channel.

Earnest revealed that Obama spoke on the phone with Ryan yesterday, to congratulate him as he prepared to replace Boehner.

“The president certainly respects Speaker Ryan as somebody who has a conviction about his worldview, he’s somebody who’s willing to do his homework and that’s worthy of some respect,” he said.
