In an appearance on C-SPAN last week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), a candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, was asked if he would host NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” as his opponent Donald Trump is next month.
Unlike another one of his opponents, former Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, Cruz said he would “absolutely” do it if asked.
“I would love to do it, Cruz said. “I grew up watching ‘SNL’ as a kid. I think their political satire is hysterical. By the way, the actress they have playing Hillary has her dead-on. And I will tell you, I told Bernie Sanders just the other day, I called him ‘Larry’ for Larry David because, oh my goodness David’s performance — that was Bernie. He has captured him perfectly and so I would love to have the chance to do it and I’m sure Donald [Trump] will knock it out of the park.”
