This morning, NBC News cited sources who affirmed that Vice President Joe Biden will decide whether or not he plans to run for president in the next 48 hours.
For those who have been following Biden’s decision closely, its getting harder to take these kinds of pronouncements seriously – particularly since his reported “deadlines” keep getting blown.
“Confidants of Vice President Joe Biden expect him to make a decision next weekend, or shortly thereafter, on whether to launch an epic battle with Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination,” Politico reported on Monday, October 5.
But with the new 48 hour timeline, the media will assuredly be focused squarely on Biden while Hillary Clinton, the party’s frontrunner prepares to testify to the Benghazi committee.
The timing is odd, but the Democratic establishment is apoplectic that the Vice President continues to tease the possibility. If she stumbles, Biden’s timing could be considered a stroke of genius. But it also threatens to take away some of the spotlight away from the hearing if she does well.
Clinton has already downplayed expectations for the hearing, painting it as a partisan endeavor to lower her poll numbers.
“I’ve already testified about Benghazi. I testified to the best of my ability before the Senate and the House,” she told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview on Friday. “I don’t know that I have very much to add.”
