CNN’s “Legal View” host Ashleigh Banfield argued that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s emails aren’t “even a scandal” and “scandal” is “the Republicans’ word for it” on Friday.
After Banfield made a generic reference to “controversies” “in the press,” and that “Republicans are delivering any script that [Sen.] Bernie Sanders (I-VT) may need to go after Clinton.” Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman stated, “any Democrat who resorts to citing Republican talking points is going to hurt themselves amongst the grassroots –.”
Banfield then cut in to say, “So, you’re saying you don’t think he’s ever going to touch the email scandal, or — it’s not even a scandal. It’s really a controversy, the scandal’s the Republicans’ word for it, but so far, no one has determined there’s any scandal there.”
