Two separate incidents involving signs that Black Lives Matter activists find upsetting are the latest indicators that the thin-skinned political agitators–who gained notoriety this summer for shutting down political speakers–are no friends of free speech.
In Norton, Massachusets there’s a sign outside Tom’s Barbershop that reads BLACK LABS MATTER, a play on words meant to support a local animal shelter.
It’s a silly pun for a good cause, but the Black Lives Matter crowd is having none of it, as Fox Boston reports:
“Putting a joke to something that hurt so many people, it’s not the right way to go,” one resident said.

Many voiced their frustration on social media, one person writing: “Of course I’m an animal rights supporter but in the grand scheme of things, yeah what he put on his sign could be very offensive I would be offended by it.”
The man who put up the sign, barber Tom Stevens, has said he doesn’t care if people are offended and fired back at critics on social media, saying: “Some people need to lighten up. Ha ha ha pun intended.”
Meanwhile in Michigan , drivers on westbound I-96 in Grand Rapids saw a new digital billboard with a pro-law enforcement message: Blue Lives Matter.
Of course, that made activists apoplectic, as they said the pro-police billboard is “shameful” and that “the brand” of Black Lives Matter might be harmed. As Fox 17 reported:
“I think in some aspects it’s shameful that the brand is being co-opted, but once again it was never meant to say ‘only black lives matter,'” said Darel Ross, co-executive director of LINC Community Revitalization Inc.
Despite Mr. Ross’s contention that the rhetoric isn’t only black lives matter, events like the shutdown of Netroots Nation and the forced apology of erstwhile Democrat Presidential candidate Martin O’Malley make it clear that the Black Lives Matter gang are worst kind of politically correct speech police.
