In an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” on Monday, former Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon Ben Carson, a candidate for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, remarked on the surge of so-called political outsiders in the early going of his party’s primary process.
According to Carson, a lot of it stems from the public’s dissatisfaction in the political process.
“People are used to double-talk. And they’re used to politicians saying whatever is politically expedient,” he said. “Right now, they’re looking for something that they can truly believe in.”
Carson vowed not to cave to those forces.
“We’re not looking like people who are going to be corralled by the political establishment,” Carson added. “I’m not going to let someone sit there and pull my strings.”
