In a series of Twitter posts, freshman United States Senator Ben Sasse is proposing the next House Speaker should not be a member of Congress, but rather come from outside the traditional realm of cautious politicians with bad approval ratings.

“Who’s the best communicator in our movement? He/she might not be in Congress today. So what? Why would we not pick that person –for ‘SPEAKER’”? he wrote.

Sasse pointed to billionaire candidate Donald Trump’s sustaining power as proof that the American people were tired of traditional politicians.

“Next speaker needs to have the ideas of Jack Kemp, work ethic of Mike Rowe, resolve of Margaret Thatcher, and wit of Larry the Cable Guy,” he wrote on Twitter. “Therefore … I’m endorsing Arthur Brooks for Speaker of the House.”

Brooks is the president of the American Enterprise Institute, a public policy organization in Washington D.C. Brooks relentlessly campaigns for policies that reflect conservative ideas and raise people out of poverty.

Sasse purchased the internet domain http://DraftArthurBrooks.com as part of his late night campaign to push the conversation forward. Nothing has been posted on the site as of this morning.

“House Speaker should be Congress’ chief STORYTELLER – cast the big vision of American exceptionalism; remind nation who we are/what we’re about,” Sasse wrote.

It appears that Sasse posted his thoughts as he was watching the Sunday Night Football game.

“Tell me who…I’ll wait. …Gotta go put kids to bed for a bit anyway,” he wrote acknowledging that the third quarter of the game between Dallas Cowboys vs. the New Orleans Saints had started.
