First Lady Michelle Obama doesn’t want to see any more pictures of your food on social media.
The First Lady explains that she wants people to participate in her social media campaign to raise awareness of education for girls, arguing that is more important than their food pictures.
“I want you all to be tweeting and Instagramming something other than your shoes and your food, okay?” she asked during a panel discussion about education for women in New York City yesterday. “My kids do the same. I’m like, who cares what you’re eating? I don’t care.”
Actress Charlize Theron, who was also on the panel, disagreed with Obama’s negative position on food pictures.
“I actually do like food photos,” she said. “So I would say keep those, but also tweet about this. I love a good food photo, I’m sorry. I’m such a foodie.”
Michelle Obama encouraged all of the attendees to tweet or post a photo of themselves on Instagram to talk about the importance of education.
“We’ve got Leo DiCaprio who tweeted it out. I know Charlize [Theron] is going to do it. Kerry Washington, she’s going to do it. We’ve got everybody — Beyoncé tweeted out. It’s very exciting,” she said.
