REYNOSA, Tamaulipas – Authorities in this border city arrested a woman who had been using fake documents to move a group of illegal aliens by airplane to this border city. The recent arrest took place at the Reynosa International Airport when an airplane flying in from Mexico City arrived with the female human smuggler along with five illegal aliens, one of which was a child, information provided to Breitbart Texas by Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office revealed.
The group had arrived in Interjet’s flight 3110 and the passengers were in the process of having their check-in baggage inspected when they presented a set of false documents claiming to be Mexican citizens, when in fact they were all from Central America.
Once detained the illegal aliens said that they had been contacted by the woman who said that for a fee she would take them to Reynosa and then have them smuggled into the United States. The woman had told the illegal aliens that as soon as they landed to follow them out of the airport to continue their trip but once authorities discovered them they arrested the entire group.
The woman and the four adult illegal aliens are facing criminal charges connected with human smuggling and additional charges for the use of fake documents. The child was taken by Mexican immigration authorities who are expected to deport him in the coming days.
Last year, the border city of Reynosa made international headlines when members of the Gulf Cartel began to use it as a springboard to smuggle hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens into the United States.
At the time the move rapidly overwhelmed the detention capabilities of the Department of Homeland Security’s detention facilities resulting in the catch and release of thousands of illegal immigrants at a time.
As reported by Breitbart Texas, the Gulf Cartel in Reynosa ended up making $38 million in a matter of months from human smuggling alone. The criminal organization also used human smuggling attempts to tie down authorities while they moved large drug shipments over the Rio Grande.
