In an appearance on CNN’s “New Day” on Friday, Michael Cohen, special counsel for Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, spoke about Trump’s ongoing feud with the Fox News Channel.
Cohen explained that the only thing Trump wants out of Fox News is fair treatment, something he had argued for in his previous dust-ups with the cable news channel.
“Fairness, it’s always been fairness and this isn’t the first go-around at this dance,” he said. “He wants to be treated fairly.”
Co-host Alisyn Camerota asked if it is just Trump not being able to handle criticism from pundits, to which Cohen explained it was much of a deeper issue than that.
“This isn’t an issue about pundits and this isn’t an issue about criticism,” he said. “They say Donald Trump has thin skin. Look I sit across the desk from the man and I’ve watched the guy who is the greatest deal maker in the history of the world. I’m amazed in each and every deal at the things that he does. Here’s the point on to it — what he does is he does not want anything more than for them to be fair to him. And they’re not. What they’re doing is they’re marginalizing him, they’re criticizing him, they’re trying to figure out how to get this man out of the race.”
Cohen clarified that he wasn’t sure if it was a concerted effort from within the network or just “some of their anchors.”
“I don’t know if it is Fox News as opposed to some of their anchors, but I do believe that they do not report Donald Trump fairly and they do not report him accurately,” he added.
