NSA Director Rogers: If Iran’s or Russia’s FM Had a Private Server, It Would Be An Intel ‘Opportunity’

NSA Director Admiral Michael Rogers stated that it would represent “opportunity” from “a foreign intelligence perspective” if Russia’s or Iran’s foreign minister used a private server for official business in testimony before the Senate Select Intelligence Committee on Thursday.

Rogers was asked by Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) if the communications of the president’s most senior advisors, including those that may be unclassified are a “top priority for foreign intelligence services” in his opinion. He responded that they are.

Cotton then asked Rogers what he would do if an NSA employee told him they had reason to believe Iran’s or Russia’s foreign minister was using a private server to conduct official business. Rogers answered, “From a foreign intelligence perspective, that represents opportunity.”
