On Wednesday, Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton denied being the inspiration for the so-called birther movement in an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show.”
Clinton denied having been a part of the speculations about then-Sen. Barack Obama’s birthplace and she also denied having been confronted by Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign about it.
“That is so ludicrous,” Clinton said. “I just believe — first of all, it’s totally untrue. Secondly, the president and I have never had any kind of confrontation like that. You know, this is such a bad example of what’s wrong with, you know, instantaneous reactions and Americans getting all worked up and people feeding prejudice and paranoia like Donald Trump. And you know, obviously all of us have to stand against it.”
“You know,” she added. “I have been blamed for nearly everything. That was a new one to me. I’ll just go on talking about what I want to do to get incomes rising and making college affordable and making all the positive changes we have to be worried about.”
