Huckabee: ‘No Religious Test’ To Hold Office, Someone Shouldn’t Be Disqualified For Faith

Republican presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee argued that there is no religious test to hold a public office, and someone shouldn’t be disqualified from holding one due to their faith on Monday’s “Mornings with Maria” on the Fox Business Network.

Huckabee said, [relevant exchange begins around 4:40] “Well, there’s no religious test for a person to hold public office in America. And I think it would depend on the individual. I don’t think that we ought to just disqualify somebody because of his or her faith.”

When asked if he thought Carson’s comments were “out of line,” Huckabee responded that wasn’t going to “evaluate” Carson, and that he and Carson would speak for themselves.
