GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) Chief Strategist Jason Johnson spoke exclusively to Breitbart News after Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker suspended his campaign and encouraged other candidates to do the same to “clear the field.”
“The laws of political reality tend to dictate these things, and that’s primarily each campaign’s fundraising and their ability to manage … the money that donors have given them,” Johnson explained.
He added that each candidate’s support among voters is also part of the laws of political reality.
“I can tell you for the Ted Cruz campaign, we will continue to charge ahead and spread the message that there’s only one candidate in this race with a proven record of standing up to the leadership of both parties when they’re out of step with the American people and specially the leadership of both parties in Washington, D.C., which is the source of the problem,” he added.
Walker decided to end his presidential campaign in order to “clear the field in this race” on Monday, adding, “I encourage other presidential candidates to do the same.”
“All candidates who are still in the race, candidates who have recently dropped out are obviously there – Gov. Perry and Gov. Walker both – have great records within their states and have every right to offer advice, but more than advice from any particular candidate or former candidate is going to be the laws of political reality,” Johnson concluded.
