MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski said Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s interview with CBS’ “Face the Nation” was “planned out,” and that Hillary’s campaign cut off contact with the show “because we were not controlled” on Monday.
Brzezinski said that while Hillary was “looking pretty good,” “I’d do a great job too, if someone gave me a silver platter.” it was stunning.
Fellow co-host former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough added, “she said the State Department authorized it [Hillary’s private server]. No — there was — [John] Dickerson didn’t follow up with the question ‘Who at the State Department?'”
Brzezinski then said, “Well, that’s because the campaign did not allow that. We know that this interview was set up so that certain questions on policy were required for a certain amount of time, and then they could go into emails for a certain amount of time, and then they — believe me, it was textbook planned out. I can see Jen Palmieri and everybody all over that interview. And they — this happened with two other network interviews that it — I do know it happens. … I can tell you right now, the conversation with this show stopped, because we were not controlled.”
Scarborough then stated, “CBS News knows, if they have any sources at the State Department, CBS News knows, that nobody at the State Department, based on all of our sources at the state department, nobody authorized it. She did it on her own.” Brzezinski added to this, “It was allowed because she allowed it.”
Brzezinski did add that this strategy could work for Hillary, and that she was “great policy” within the interview.
Later, Steve Rattner, the former head of President Obama’s Auto Task Force, argued that Hillary has done “no holds barred” interviews, and pointed to her interview with Andrea Mitchell.
