Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked GOP presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) what he would do about the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin put combat aircraft and surface-to-air missiles in Syria, and Rubio pointed out that fellow GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is echoing President Obama’s plan.
“It sounds like [Trump] thinks that if we have someone who gets along better with Putin personally, things are gonna work out better,” Rubio said. “It sounds a lot like the reset with Russia that the president tried to do. I guess he’s advocating for a reset with Putin. Vladimir Putin has a very clear plan, which is to reposition Russia as a geopolitical force, at least at the same level as the former Soviet Union. This is part of that plan.”
