SIMI VALLEY — Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz refused to take a position Wednesday night on whether the Senate should vote on the Iran deal.

Democrats have been using the filibuster to prevent a vote on the Iran deal, because the Iran deal would lose, and President Barack Obama would be required to use his veto to uphold it.

In arguing against the filibuster, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had quoted President Obama: “I believe Congress owes the American people a final up or down vote.”

Wasserman Schultz appeared in the spin room after the GOP debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Breitbart News asked why, if she had been able to vote in the House of Representatives in favor of the deal, the Senate should be denied that same opportunity.

Breitbart News: Would you urge the Senate to vote on the deal?

DWS: I’m a member of the House of Representatives.

BN: But you’re also chair of the DNC–what would you say to the Senate?

DWS: What I’d say to the Senate is that they have a process that they’re following, and that’s what–

BN: So you disagree with them not allowing a vote on the Iran deal.

DWS: No.

BN: So you agree with them not allowing a vote on the Iran deal.

DWS: That’s not accurate.

As the interview concluded, Wasserman Schultz continued to decline the opportunity to urge a Senate vote.
