Wednesday at CNN’s undercard Republican presidential debate, while discussing the Rowan Co., KY clerk Kim Davis refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses because of her religious beliefs, former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) said as president he would the defy the Supreme Court’s rulings on that issue.
When former Governor Pataki, said of his rival Santorum, “Wow, we’re going to have a president who defies the Supreme Court,” Santorum shot back, “I hope so. If they are wrong.”
Pataki, said, “Then you don’t have the rule of law.”
Santorum added, “When you have judicial supremacy you don’t have the rule of law, when the court has the final say on everything.”
