Limbaugh on Trump Attacks: Don’t Feel Sorry for Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson

On his Thursday radio show, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh reacted to remarks from Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump regarding two of his opponents, former Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.

Earlier in the day, Trump had reacted to comments from Carson about his faith, which led to the real estate mogul taking a shot at Carson for his abortion views. Trump also responded to questions about his view of Carly Fiorina’s physical appearance, which he suggested would be to Fiorina’s detriment in a Rolling Stone magazine interview.

According to Limbaugh, such remarks will work to both Fiorina’s and Carson’s advantages.

“I fully expect to have people defend Trump,” Limbaugh said. “They’re going to try – they’re going to do it under the rubric of political correctness and how he’s continuing to blow that up. But don’t feel sad for Carly Fiorina. My point is she loves this and Carson probably does, too. Because Carly Fiorina just had her awareness level raised significantly, especially with low-information voters. Here’s Trump out there talking about this ugly woman with whatever else he said.”

“I would probably say the same of Ben Carson – don’t feel sorry for him,” he later said. “The Democrats have said worse about both of these people. Trump’s just happen to be personal. But the Democrats and the media have said far worse things about Ben Carson, far worse things about Carly Fiorina. Nobody gets mad at them. This is chump change compared to the types of character assassinations the media engages in against Republicans every day.”

Later, Limbaugh pointed out a 2010 story in which an “open mic” video caught Fiorina mocking her 2010 U.S. senatorial campaign opponent, incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA).

“These people – they know what’s coming their way,” he added. “They can handle it. And I’m telling you Carly Fiorina – she may not be doing handstands, but believe me – the new awareness level she’s going to get – she’ll take it.
