Homeowner Shoots Two Alleged Home Invaders Who Put Gun to His Head

On September 5, two alleged home invaders put a gun to a Hartford, Connecticut, homeowner’s head as he was entering his home. He fought with the suspects and was able to retrieve his own gun, shooting them multiple times.

“A woman and child” were inside the home when the incident occurred around 11 p.m.

According to the Hartford Courant, the homeowner said that “he was entering his home when he was approached by two unknown suspects. One suspect pointed a gun at his head and forced him to open the door. Once inside the home, a struggle ensued.” Sgt. Reginald Early said the homeowner “was able to retrieve his own licensed firearm and shot both suspects.”

Early said, “One suspect ran out of [the] house while the other one laid on the floor bleeding.” The one on the floor suffered multiple gunshot wounds “to the head, groin, and leg” and is in critical condition.

Police said they recovered a gun–believed to be the one used by the alleged invaders–and a number of “zip-ties.” The zip-ties indicate the suspects possibly intended to restrain the family while pillaging their home.

On September 6, Deputy Chief Brian Foley indicated “both suspects are from Lawrence, Massachusetts.”
