At the White House today, Press Secretary Josh Earnest reacted to the news that famous NFL quarterback was exonerated by a judge in the controversial “deflategate” case.
“My guess is that that the happiest people today are either Patriot’s fans or fantasy football owners who had the wisdom to get a steal by drafting Tom Brady late in the draft,” said Earnest, adding that it was probably a smart move by fantasy football team owners to select the quarterback in their draft.
Earnest admitted that he had not drafted Tom Brady in a fantasy football team.
“My guess is that there are a lot of good natured ribbing that’s going on in fantasy football leagues even before the season has started,” Earnest concluded.
The Patriots were guests at the White House in April as President Obama recognized their Super Bowl victory in the last NFL season.
“I usually tell a bunch of jokes at these events, but with the Patriots in town, I was worried that 11 out of 12 of them would fall flat,” Obama said during the ceremony, referring to the controversy swarming the team.
