Schools Closed as Manhunt for Suspects in Chicago-Area Cop’s Murder Continues

As the manhunt for three suspects in the September 1 shooting death of Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz in Fox Lake, Illinois, continues, schools in the area are closed and the community itself is in “virtual lockdown.”

Breitbart News previously reported that Gliniewicz was shot and killed while in a “foot pursuit” of three suspects Tuesday morning. The suspects, two white males and one black male, have not been found.

According to NBC News, the manhunt that began Tuesday morning continued until 10 PM, at which point it transitioned to a “saturation patrol.” Officers from all over the state and “more than 45 police dogs” took part in the initial 14 hour manhunt. The FBI and ATF also assisted in the search.

Some experts now fear the three suspects may have split up, which would make their capture far more difficult.

Officer Cliniewicz was a 52-year-old father of four and a 32-year veteran of the police force. The suspects who killed him are believed to be armed with a pistol, and no clarification has been given as to whether that is a pistol they already possessed or the pistol they took from Cliniewicz.
