Slain Reporter’s Father in Contact with Mark Kelly, Michael Bloomberg for Gun Control Push

On August 30, Andy Parker, the father of slain WDBJ reporter Alison Parker, indicated he has already “been in contact with Mark Kelly” and with associates of Michael Bloomberg to get his best trajectory for a gun control push.

Breitbart News previously reported that Andy began pushing gun control on August 26—the very day his daughter was murdered—and by August 30, he was pushing issues for which Mark Kelly and Bloomberg-sponsored groups have also campaigned.

For example, he called for the closure of so-called loopholes in background checks, for the expansion of background checks, for more more regulations on gun show sales, and for the implementation of “gun violence restraining” orders in Virginia.

For the record, there is no loophole in the background check system. Claims to the contrary are fictitious and put forth by Bloomberg-funded Moms Demand Action’s Shannon Watts. Ironically, Watts also frequently says the push for gun control “is a marathon, not a sprint.” And Andy said something very close to that when he said, “I’m going to be working on this for a long time. I know that this is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.”

According to CNN, Andy said he was talking to gun control advocates because he wants to push “sensible gun control legislation.” He did not explain how pushing background checks in the wake of an attack where the gunman passed a background check is sensible.

Breitbart News has made this same point regarding Mark Kelly and his wife Gabby Giffords. The two have been pushing to expand background checks as a way of “stopping violence” for over two years, yet the cold, hard truth is that Giffords’s attempted assassin—Jared Loughner—passed a background check for the gun he used to shoot her.

Virginia gunman Vester Lee Flanagan II passed a background check, and Loughner passed one, yet Andy, Kelly, Bloomberg, and Giffords are pushing background checks as a solution?
