Obama: ‘The President of the United States Doesn’t Respond to Taunts’

During a live webcast discussion of the Iran nuclear deal, President Obama disputed the notion that both supporters and critics of the deal were equally guilty of heated rhetoric.

Obama was asked by the moderator why he didn’t appear concerned about the personal threats emanating from Iran including “Death to America” and “Death to America” tweets.

“The United States is the most powerful country in the world,” he said. “The President of the Untied States doesn’t respond to taunts.”

Obama dismissed language from the Supreme Leader of Iran suggesting the threats against America were merely political rhetoric.

“I’m less interested – in terms of this deal – in what the Supreme Leader says about me, more interested in what is actually happening on the ground,” he said.

Instead, Obama criticized opponents of the Iran nuclear deal in America.

Obama insisted that the critics of Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York, who voiced his support for the deal, were “appalling,” while he and his administration only argued using facts and realistic options.

He also inexplicably tried to clarify his rhetoric accusing opponents of the deal as pro-war.

“At no point have I ever suggested, for example, that someone is a war monger meaning they want war,” Obama asserted.

Earlier this month, Obama warned that critics of the Iran deal were similar to anti-American radicals in Iran.

“It’s those hard-liners chanting ‘Death to America’ who have been most opposed to the deal,” he said. “They’re making common cause with the Republican caucus.”

During the White House press briefing this afternoon, Obama’s press secretary Josh Earnest defined an upcoming political rally opposing the deal as a “pro-war rally.”

Obama said he wouldn’t apologize for pointing out facts about the deal, insisting that this was the only way to block Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
