ABDO, a Minnesota-based book publisher, is set to release a middle school textbook written by Professor Duchess Harris and Sue Bradford Edwards about the anti-police movement Black Lives Matter.
The ABDO Publishing website, describing the 112-page Black Lives Matter textbook, says, “Black Lives Matter covers the shootings that touched off passionate protests, the work of activists to bring about a more just legal system, and the tensions in US society that these events have brought to light.”
In a recent appearance on Fox and Friends Weekend, Radio host Larry Elder said the Black Lives Matter textbook is about “indoctrinating children to believe that that black people are victims and white people should feel guilty about it.”
In an interview with the liberal blog ThinkProgress, the textbook’s co-author Professor Duchess Harris said, “It is important for it to be in the classroom.”
“I have a lot of white friends who approach me who asked what could they use to facilitate these conversations about Black Lives Matter,” Harris said. “I’m black, my husband’s black, my kids are black. They don’t need a guidebook. It’s those other parents who do.”
The Black Lives Matter textbook is “Aligned to Common Core Standards,” and is scheduled for release for the first semester of 2016.
