Democratic presidential candidate and former Rhode Island Governor and Senator Lincoln Chafee said fellow Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s email scandal was “a huge issue” that makes her vulnerable on Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day.”
Chafee, when asked about his low poll numbers, cited his qualifications to be president, one of which was, “I’ve never been in any scandals in three decades of public service.”
After being asked if this was a reference to Clinton’s email scandal and how big a deal he thought the scandal was, Chafee said, “I think it’s a big deal. And it’s obviously, I think having an effect on the vice president’s decision whether to run. And we all know as Democrats we have to win in 2016. I mean, that’s what we all want as Democrats. To think that the Republicans could come back against the environment, against women’s issues, belligerent around the world, you just can’t have that.”
When asked if Clinton was “vulnerable” because of the scandal, Chafee stated, “Yes, obviously. It’s a huge issue.”
